Balcony Gardening: Basil Homemade Pesto

Balcony Gardening is one of the things I enjoy the most during the warm months. I like growing culinary herbs to use in my home cooking. Basil is one of my most favorite ones and have been harvesting it since August. This herb has very tender leaves.

Spray and water Basil at least once a day. Either in the early morning or in the evening.
This past dry and hot Summer was quite a challenge! I had to spray and water it twice a day. All worth it though. Still have all plants.

I make Basil Pesto using Walnuts, Garlic and good Olive Oil. Just process it and voila!
Basil is great on pasta, polenta and fantastic on toast. Try it! It freezes very well in plastic bags or containers. We enjoy our harvest many, many months.

Fall is here, nights are cooler and it's time again to collect more leaves before the frost. Basil leaves are very tender. Did you grow any herbs this past Summer?
