Daffodils: Beautiful spring flowering perennials showing off unique shapes and colours.

Daffodils: Spring flowering perennials showing off unique shapes and colours.
Spring has started to show its beautiful colours. Cloudy days are perfect to capture the beauty of flowers. They are now slowly awakening and emerging from perennial garden patches around the neighbourhood.

I absolutely love the very interesting shape of Daffodil flowers! These ones are bright and pale yellow. They have six pointed petals located in the outer part (called the "perianth") with perfect and sharply finished tips. In the center there is a ruffled, trumpet-like cup called "corona".
To my surprise I learned that they belong to the Amaryllis family! Another beauty I like to force right before Christmas every year.

Happy gardening!
