Indoor Gardening: Succulents. Moon Cactus in full pink bloom.

Moon Cactus is probably the most common one at any garden store. They come in different colours such as pink, red, yellow and this purple one.

The Moon Cactus does not produce its own chlorophyll. It needs to be attached to another cacti to then live as a whole. This technique in gardening is called "grafting". Amazing, isn't it?

What I love the most the Moon Cactus is that it looks like a stunning sculpture.

I could not pass this amazing purple Moon Cactus at the garden store. Did not have any blooms at that time. It is now happily blooming in our cactus and succulent indoor garden. These plants are in general quite affordable. You can score one for about ten dollars. Look around.

How to care for a Moon Cactus:

  • Place it in a pot with drainage.
  • It needs indirect sunlight.
  • Water about every two weeks.
  • It does not grow much. No need to worry about transplanting it.
I read that Moon Cactus is a short lived plant. It can live up to five years. But you never know, right? Take good care of this beauty and let nature decide...

Happy gardening!
